RH9.0 Disk 2 Installation

Well, i have retail rh9 and i go through installation just fine until i hit the part with package installations. It starts to install my selected packets of software up until on of the last few. It's xfree86-tools and it gets halfway through then requests for disk 2 to complete the installation. Fine. I put in disk 2. Guess what, when i do that it says wrong disk in drive when it's clearly the RedHat Linux Installation cd disk 2 of 3!!! Did i just get dicked hardcore by redhat by them not sending me a valid installation disk 2 or what!? i can't not install that packet as it is required and i can't unselect it in the list. Please Help. Thanks.

I had that happen and I just kept hitting ok and it took it. Dunno if it'll help you. If not I am sure RH will send you another set.

You're right. Go back to windows.

hi

it seems that your disk is damaged. did u check your media?. if not do that first. you will get it as the first option when you start the installation. make sure your ram is good too

for some reason that durned disc 2 has problems

I D/L mine in April and had the exact same trouble
made lots of coasters thinkin it was a bad iso

guess not

i media checked the disk a bunch of times passed every time. i have 640mb ram i'm assuming that's enough to run redhat. F*you i'm not goin back to windows. Many others have had this exact prob (did many google searches) but no hard evidence on how to fix it. I just can't comprehend how a manufactured disk that's made 10000000's of times the same way and mine is different.

keep sticking that disc in there and hitting retry

it only has to take once and you are in

ch4s3r 10-06-2003 07:33 PM

haha, i'll try that while calling rh tech support:D
