RH8 user trying to avoid rpm
im trying to figure out how i can either:
1. avoid using them alltogether but im not sure how to go about that. I had heard that i could use debians .deb files instead. 2. configuring apt-get so that it doesnt only look at one depository for dependancies. i looked at the /etc/apt/sources.list but i dont know what to point it at. so here are my questions. can i install a .deb file on my rh8 machine? and if so, does will the .deb file have all of the dependancies packaged with it, or will i have to use apt-get. thanks for your time, digsby |
99% software that comes in an RPM will also be available in source - just compile it.
