RH 9 Floppy tools

Hi all, I've recently had the need to format a floppy disk, easy task, right? I decided to experiment with the new format floppy tool included in RH, I got the not so pleasant surprise that I cannot even make a quick format (just make the fs) because I get an error stating that the format was canceled. Whenever I try to make a low level or complete format I get an error that the program cannot format sector 0 of the disk. The disk is readable, I just want to make it ext2 rather than fat, but even when I select fat I cannot format!

What could be wrong with the disk/program?

Note: I have tried to format the disk into console with mkfs.vfat and it works fine.

/sbin/mkfs.vfat /dev/fd0

Post the errors from this command:

/sbin/mke2fs /dev/fd0

I have heard that sometimes Windows stuff can mess up mkfs, so you might try zeroing the floppy first with this command:

dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/fd0
