RH 8.0 and ipchains

I just put a clean install on rh 8 on my machine but i cant seem to get ip chains to work correctly. here is what i get.

[root@hobbes init.d]# ./ipchains status
ipchains: Incompatible with this kernel

How can i get this working with this kernal. I have 2.4.18-14 the stock kernel with redhat.

Thanks.

Use iptables instead, ipchains were substituted for iptables since 2.4 came out, if you still want to use ipchains you must tell your kernel to be compatible for ipchains, hence you'd have to recompile your kernel, there are numerous howto's regarding kernel compilation, so do some homework, if you have farther questions or something isn't clear just shout it out.
