Hello, I am sure this question has been answered many times before, but I searched and couldn't find anything and couldn't think of any other search terms to use.
Anyway, here's my predicament. I recently did an upgrade after installing Fedora Core 4. I upgraded the kernel, along with some other software. Since the upgrade, I have not been able to access my firewire drive. I have tried to locate the issue, and think it may be my kernel. I am at least willing to try and see if it is. However, in order to do this, I need to downgrade to my previously installed version, or to one that will work. I am a newbie

and don't know how to do this.
How would I go about either:
1) Reverting permanently to the previous kernel
2) Booting with the old kernel temporarily for testing purposes (if this is even possible)
I am running Fedora Core 4 with KDE. If you need any other info, just let me know.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I am making a very serious attempt to rid myself of Windows as much as possible.
