restore hp recovery partition
hi, i just got an hp dv6000, and when installing fedora 8, i accidentally deleted the recovery partition(the modern replacement for the restore disk).
I have rebuilt the partition table, and the drive named HP_RECOVERY is mountable, and contains all the proper stuff. its in partition 2. but the bios recovery feature doesnt do anything. i press f11 during the POST screen, and it just continues, rather than going into the recovery program. what should i do? |

thanks for the quick reply, i just did what you suggested:
rootnoverify (hd0,4) chainloader +1 boot It loaded the partition!! it gave me a menu with stuff like system restore, recovery manager etc. the manual says to use the recovery manager. when i click it, i get an error with a 32bit hex number. something like: Error: 0x0303FF03 If the problem persists contact hp the same sort of thing happens for any option in the menu. hmm. ive tried setting it as partition 2, 3 and 4. but the bios still doesnt access it. |
I've found Compaq resource CD's or similar in the past that I've used to recover from the partition. Got them from HP's site. Even e-mailing their technicians and including your model number, they may be able to offer tips.
