Restore Battery Icon on Ubuntu 12.04 Unity 2D?

Hi, I recently installed Ubuntu 12.04 on my old ibook powerpc. Installation runs great for the most part. When I installed 12.04, my laptop battery was 100% dead, and I think when the installation tried to detect it, it found no battery and so did not put an icon in the tray. Since then, I put a new battery in the ibook, but still no indicator. Rest of the icons are there though (mail, wireless, sound, calendar, etc). The machine is detecting the battery though. At the terminal, I can input [cat /proc/pmu/battery_0] and I will get a readout for the battery usage and time remaining. A good work-around, but I'd like to get my battery icon reinstalled. I also installed wmbatppc from synaptic. It allows me get a percentage of remaining battery charge too. But it is also run from terminal. 12.04 uses unity 2D. Any ideas on how to get my battery icon?
