Resolution of the login screen of kdm
I have a monitor (Sony G200) which advertises for itself: Best ergonomic resolution 1280 * 1024 @ 91 hz. So I choose that resolution during install.
Now, when I want to log in the font is that minuscule that I'm tempted to lay a magnifying glass besides the screen.
Anybody any ideas where I can change the font size without changing the resolution as well?

I just change the -dpi setting that X is started with. For kdm, it's in the /etc/kde/kdm/kdmrc file iirc. More dots per inch equals a larger font. So 100 instead of 75 for mom's computer. But that's 800x600, so you might try 200 dpi. This will affect fonts in other applications like your web browser. Unless you override the defaults there as well. It should be right next to the -nolisten tcp stuff. Add in -dpi 100. Or however your system defaults are laid out.

Thank you aus9, that worked like a charm.
Shadow_7, I have the dpi-setting at 96*96, for the reason look here:

I might try to use multiples (e.g. 192*192), so thanks anyway for the tip.
