Help! I ran xf86cfg to set some settings for X and when I go into KDE the resolution is now 1800x1400. I've tried changing it in the control center but for some reason it is not actually saving the file. I tried running xf86config but it did not change anything. What should I do.

in your XF86Config file, under screan you have a line
Modes "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
place the resoution you want first, if that doesn't work remove all of the higher resolutions you do not want.
