Resetting fonts in KDE/Open Suse

Hi,

Recently I wanted to update my fonts so I could use Gimp properly. So I copied in all the fonts from my Windows Fonts folder.

However, now when I write ANYTHING the text looks really ugly. I want to know how to change the general text back the original fonts that came with my open suse installation. I can't find the fonts control panel anywhere. Normally I thought it was a case of right clicking the desktop configuration, but this doesn't work.

I thank you for your help in advance,
Awaiting your reply,
James

Kde control center - Appearances - Fonts will allow you to select fonts to use (although it won't allow you to do an auto-reset to the original fonts).

If you have trouble finding the Kde control center (it may be named Configure Desktop) in the Kde menu, you can start the control center in a terminal window with the command '/opt/kde3/bin/kcontrol' (without quotes).

Are you claiming that you have copied fonts from Windows to (somewhere undefined) and that, without overwriting/renaming existing fonts and without you doing anything in menus to re-assign which fonts are used for what, has changed which fonts are used in GUI apps?

(The reason for asking is that this really shouldn't happen.)

When you say 'when I write ANYTHING...', do you just mean in the Gimp, some other programs (undefined), or all programs?

Hi guys. Thanks for your replies. Thanks for showing me how to access control center. It's not in the configure desktop menu anymore on this distribution. I managed to change the "general" font to something less ugly.

What I did. Since I have a licensed copy of windows, I copied all the true type fonts from the Windows Fonts folder into the true type folder in the fonts folder in linux- so that Gimp would have access to a wider range of fonts. Do you know what the general default fonts are for open suse, such as the general ones? Or the nicest ones to use? Thanks. I appreciate your great help!
