Reset Gnome2 Panels
Concerning RH9...
I was redoing my gnome2 panels...and I completely got rid of the Red Hat Noticication Applet....on accident. Now, I can't figure out how to get it back. Yes, I have tried running "rhn-applet-gui". This is the icon entitled "Red Hat Network Alert Icon" and can be found in "System Tools". When I run "rhn-applet-gui" nothing happens. I have tried to make a new edge panel and then rerunning "rhn-applet-gui" but it still does not put the icon back on ANY panel. Funny thing is that it does show up when I type ps -aux me 7371 0.7 3.1 26392 15936 ? S 19:11 0:00 /usr/bin/python /usr/bin/rhn-applet-gui me 7373 0.9 3.1 26392 15936 ? S 19:11 0:00 /usr/bin/python /usr/bin/rhn-applet-gui Anyway, to aviod the issue, I would like to reset my gnome2 panels and just be careful not to delete the applet next time around. But, I don't know how to reset the gnome2 panels. I have tried deleting ./gnome ./gnome2 ./gnome2_private And none of those worked...each time I log in, my customized panels kept coming back. So...how can I get gnome to reset my settings to default (with deleting this user and creating a new one) |
Well since no one was able to help...I had to help myself.
It turns out that gnome stores the panel settings in..... ~/.gconf/apps/panel/profiles/default I just deleted everything under default. Upon restarting all of the panels were set to default. FYI: Gnome2 stores the sytemwide default in: /etc/gconf/gconf.xml.defaults/schemes/apps/panel/default_profiles/medium/objects |
well done...it feels so much better when you work it out for yourself doesn't it?
