Required openjdk6-jre RPM for redhat 64

Hi,

I am looking for openjdk6-jre rpm for redhat 64bit.

I followed the instructions provided in the below site :
http://openjdk.java.net/install/

But when I try I am getting the below error:

[root@DCTXVM20 hita]# su -c "yum install java-1.6.0-openjdk"
Could not retrieve mirrorlist http://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/mir...-5&arch=x86_64 error was
[Errno 4] IOError:

Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: epel. Please verify its path and try again

I already tried : yum clean all. But that didn't help.

Any pointers where I can find the above rpm?

Thanks,

Welcome to LQ.

Assume EL5 :
I don't see the "Howto set up EPEL" in your link ?
But if you did install the repo, no harm done with doing (again):
# rpm -Uvh epel-release-5-4.noarch.rpm
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pu...5-4.noarch.rpm

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/EPEL/FAQ#howtouse
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/EPEL

The epel repo x86_64 :
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/epel/5/x86_64/
→ No java-openjdk ! It's in the Redhat.repo.
( Avalailable, when you activate your account.)

java-1.6.0-openjdk-1.6.0.0-1.11.b16.el5.x86_64.rpm :
http://ftp.scientificlinux.org/linux...el5.x86_64.rpm
( SL55 'repo' http://ftp.scientificlinux.org/linux...fic/55/x86_64/ )

Other info : The genuine sun-jdk is here
http://ftp.scientificlinux.org/linux.../55/x86_64/SL/
> jdk-1.6.0_20-fcs.x86_64.rpm
..

that is because the web page is out of date
this IS THE WRONG FILE
su -c "rpm -Uvh http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/epel/5/i386/epel-release-5-2.noarch.rpm"
the CORRECT one is
su -c "rpm -Uvh http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/epel/5/x86_64/epel-release-5-4.noarch.rpm"

did you look in the rhn solutions ?
you are paying them for that .
and see my post here
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...9/#post4082116
there are links to most of the different ways of installing it .
