Request advice on Contact Management Software for Linux
I am looking for advice on the best contact management software for Linux, both in the freeware and commercial categories.
Would be grateful for any suggestions or experience. Regards Jim Leven |
"vi" and a flat file?
Seriously: 1. you've got a number of choices http://www.latenight-coding.com/joom...ons/qcontacts/ http://coccinella.im/v/linux/rosterAvatarLinux.png.html http://www.novell.com/products/deskt...evolution.html <= I'd *definitely* consider Evolution! 2. Your first decision is if you want your contacts local (the "contact manager" and corresponding database is a local client on your local PC) or web-based. 3. Most of your choices are web based. That leaves to the problem of locating your contacts on a web server that you trust ... and that you always have convenient access to. 4. Having said all that - maybe your best choice is "the cloud". For example, a "gmail" account and one or more Google tools: http://gmailblog.blogspot.com/2008/0...t-manager.html http://googleappsposts.blogspot.com/...-to-cloud.html 'Hope that helps .. PSM |
