Replacement for Evrouter

If you have ever used the program evrouter you know it's a great program for taking the input, of pretty much any device, and and have it do what ever you want.

Example: I plug in a Xbox Guitar Hero Guitar and I can have evrouter send the proper keys strokes to Frets on Fire.

Evrouter does this for most devices (keys on a keyboard, buttons on a mouse or gamepad) it will also run scripts if you don't need keys sent to a program.

My Question is, I never see it in the repos for and Distro I've used.
I wonder why this is, and I wonder if there is a better program out there for doing this type of work.

So, does anyone know of another program that does the same things as evrouter?
