replace ubuntu with different distro in win7/buntu dual boot

Hallo,
I've installed win7 and Ubuntu on my pc, however I would like to replace ubuntu with a different distro. I've put the iso image on a bootable usb stick but when I start my pc it doesn't boot from the usb but grub pops up. So does someone know how i can get rid of ubuntu and replace it with a different distro.

Looks like the boot order of your device is setup to allow the hard drive to boot first, you need to enter the CMOS setup and change this so the USB key boots first.

Also did you copy the ISO to the usb drive or did you write the ISO as an image? If you just copied it, of course it won't work, the USB drive has no boot code to boot with.

Once you get all this sorted out, you can just install over top of ubuntu, just don't write over the windows7 partition.

Yes i did change boot order to usb first. Also i didn't just put the .iso on the usb. I used this programme, image writer.
