repair RMP


Hello,

My RedHat9 froze when I was installing RealPlayer8 RMP package.... now ever time I want to install or uninstall any package, my system freezes.

when I try to rebuild RPM database, I get error "db4 error(16) from dbenv->remove: Device or resource busy"


I'd appretiate any help

It's RPM.. Redhat Package Management.

Do a rpm -e --nodeps realplayer8

Do a updatedb

Try again.

RealPlayer is gone now.... but it did not help

i still cannot repair database or install any package....

As root:

rm -rf /var/lib/rpm/db__*
rpm --rebuilddb

You should be good to go after that.

If you get that error again during rpm --rebuilddb then you have an rpm process that is still running. Try doing:

ps -aux | grep rpm

and then kill the rpm process if it is there.
