rename root

Thought it might be fun to rename 'root' to 'larry' any ideas? It would be fun for other admins, I think.

I think that if I do add larry to the root group, I cannot delete root. I will try to make a larry group and give it root privs, then delete root. But, if I do that, larry has privs for a deleted group....

I think the grail is in the kernel source, and this thread should be in programming.

Well, open /etc/passwd and replace root with whatever username you want to give. However, If you decide to do that, then make sure that you change ownership of all files belonging to root to this 'new root's name'.

Another point that may be worth noting is, if you install a new applications, will they be searching for a root user or will it work with this new user itself..Even I haven't experimented that much, but this is a point to ponder..
