Rename printer under CUPS & HPLIP
Running CUPS 1.4.6 on Slackware 13.37 w/ HPLIP 3.12.10
Have printers defined & running then Dah! how to rename. On some systems I see it is done in /etc/print.conf on some in CUPS by selecting printer name with RIGHT click. Neither of these works here. Has anyone else figured this out? |
HPLIP normally picks up the default names of printers as assigned by HP.
According to the HPLIP knowledge base, you might be able to do it with the hp-devicesettings utility. http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web...esettings.html I would rather not test this myself, because my printer works great and I'm chicken. I did look at the network interface for my printer and found nothing that appeared to relate to changing names. |
Thank U, frankbell, I agree and after fighting with HP and this HP Deckjet 1000 J110 I think I will just create 2 more printers like the ones I have then if they work I'll zap the former 2.
I get so disappointed with HP every time I have to fiddle with the thing its been a year, a replacement and a second hplip and it still overprints every page but the first one. |

Sounds like a workaround. |
