Don't worry, I am not letting Linux down. It's just that I have an old IBM Thinkpad (P-166) which has RH 8.0 on it and I want to give it to a "non-linux" person. So I need to format it and start over in M$.
I am no good in command lines so I don't know how to format the damn thing.
This computer can not boot from the CD so I put a floppy to tell it to.
What do I type after that?
Which windows are you going to put on it?
What is on the floppy disk?
If it's Win98, you should be able to boot to the floppy. Type in 'fdisk /mbr', then just 'fdisk', delete all the partitions, create a new partition for windows, press esc to get out of that, reboot, then type 'format c:' at the A:\ prompt. (single quotes for emphasis, don't use them in the actual commands)
Distribution: Gentoo, Debian, Ubuntu, Red Hat/CentOS

On win 98se you don't have to reformat it will do that for you. Just fdisk it and then pop in the cd. Try to find all the drivers before hand because you'll need them when 98 is first installed.
