removing RAID

I have a working md0.
While learning how to configure RAID I have build a test md1.
Now I have md127 and few partitions under it.
I have no idea how did the number changed from md1 to md127.

I like to remove it , but finding very little in doc on how to do that.
I did try to delete the partitions but Gparted won't let me.

The numbering of the md devices is a great cosmic mystery. Don’t try to understand it. The --name option creates persistent device names.

mdadm --stop /dev/md<COSMICNUMBER>
mdadm --zero-superblock /dev/allyourdisks
should get rid of the array.
