Smile Removing Background From PDF or Postscript Files

I want to remove background image from multi page PDF or Postscript file.
The background should be replaced with blank / transparent.

The foreground text must remain intact.

Is there any program/utility to do this process in Linux?
Thank you.

Regards.

You can edit the Postscript files in OpenOffice.org Writer (or probably any other wordprocessor you may have).

Pdf is a proprietary format owned by Adobe. The only tool I know of for editing .pdf (other than Adobe's own) is pdfEdit. I haven't used it, so I can't offer any advice on it's usefullness.
