Remove previous versions of phpmyadmin

Hello there,

I just got a PC which runs CentOS. I install Xampp on it but the Apache service is not starting.

I speak on the phone with the person who gave me this PC and he told me that in the past he tried many times to install Xampp and lamp but unsuccessfully.

Now how can i erase all the previous versions that block my port 80?

Code:
su-
--- type in the root password when asked for ----
yum remove phpmyadmin
how was Apache installed ?

I do recommend that for the first 6 to 12 ( or so) installs that a NEW to linux and in particular APACHE and all it's NEEDED software .

That you manually build from source EVERYTHING and manually install them
-- Treat installing a server and running it as a 400 level collage course , and YOU MUST PASS with a 4.0 ----

then save the 30 Min. to 1 hour on the install and use the rpm's

what is in the httpd.conf file ?
how was it set up

and why not just make your life a LOT EASIER and do a clean fresh install with a NEW clean copy of CentOS 6.6

are you 100% SURE!!!! there is no malware installed on this USED server
