Question Remove GIMP widget from bottom panel

I'm using LinuxMint Sarah with KDE.

I right-click on the micro-icon, and the closest option I see is "Remove panel." I'm wary of clicking on that because it may remove the whole panel, not just the widget for GIMP, and I certainly don't want that. Is it just a matter of a term I'm not reading correctly, or is there another way to do this?

I think them kind of panels have a separate panel that gives you an option of placing them on the panel and within that same panel it too gives you the option to remove it. Cinnamon is similar to that.

So try looking into how to add to it, then see if that too gives you a list showing you all of the widgets already on that panel with an option to remove it too.

I think I did put that panel in (somehow) by something other than the "routine" method. I purged GIMP and it went away after I started a new session. Now if I can only get GIMP back to 2.8, I'll be a happy SOB.

Installed and uninstalled GIMP 2.9 again -- this time I have a generic "gear" icon where the GIMP icon was. And right-clicking gives me the same two choices: "Icon Settings" (set a hotkey) and "Panel Options, the latter of which gives the option of Removing, not Editing, said Panel. If I do so, and add one back, do I get my clock, network, volume, device, Klipper and chat icons back? In Other Words, is there a default Panel type as there was in GNOME2?

Found my answer -- right here on LQ (via Google)

It was in this thread. Upscaling the original panel tilted the ex-GIMP icon back to an "item" that could be, and was, removed. But how would I have known to look in the section of LQ for Fedora users (where that thread happened to be)?

Sheer Welsh luck and Google -- which, I'm convinced, many of the other search engines spider from time to time -- put together can work minor miracles, if one doggedly presses on.

that is why I do not use them panels/DE/WM because of their panels, they create more head aches then not. I go back to xfce4 or fluxbox something more easily customizeable. My option anyways.
