Removal of a Manually Installed Application

I am using CentOS 5 and havnt been able to find a repository for Dansguardian for this distro that I trust. I have installed dansguardian manually from a tar file and wanted to know the best way to uninstall and the proper removal of an application from this method? What is the best way to remove an application from a tar file? Also, If anyone can give me a site that has dansguardian in a centos 5 rpm let me know. thanks

To the best of my knowledge, if you remove the directory where you unpacked and installed the tar file, it will remove all trace of dansgaurdian?

However, you may need to remove any reference to it in your /etc files, since otherwise Cent will try to start it at boot time?

Usually if you did a "make install" to install it, then a "make uninstall" will uninstall it.
