Remotely connecting to Webmin running on Debian
I have been using linux for about a year (it will be a year in April). I am trying to setup a server on an old 533Mhz Celeron which I built from old parts. I am in a college dorm with limited computer materials like monitors, keyboards, and mice, but I do have a switch so I was going to remotely administrate it. I first tried installing SoL 18.00 but quit after burning the image 3 times and downloading it twice. I then moved to SoL 17.00. It installed and I could use ssh and webmin so I was happy. However, I had problems starting smbd and didn't like using all the old packages that came with 17.00. The XML config files where a little funny too. So I decided to use debian sarge netinstall. It went well and I told it to install all the server stuff it offered. When it was done installing the base system and the server packages I connected to it via ssh. I did so from my desktop which is on the same switch. I installed webmin via apt-get, but I couldn't get to the login page. It gave me the massage "Error - Access denied for xxx.xxx.68.35". I tried it with SSL on and off. It gave me the same massage both times. I know it worked in SoL when I used the tar.gz package so I removed the apt-get version and installed the tar.gz using the setup.sh script. There was no chang; I got the same err msg. My server IP is xxx.xxx.68.32. My desktop IP is xxx.xxx.68.32. How can I let my IP and any other IP access the webmin login page? It would also be nice if I could setup webmin to start during boot. I can access the apache2 test page from the desktop computer. My server is running the 2.6.8 kernel and has 320MB of ram. If you have any more questions about the server let me know.
Thank You for any help.
