remote Xterminal problem
I'm trying to set up one Linux machine (Slackware 8.1) to run as an Xterminal to a server (or X client) running Redhat 9. Gnome is the default window manager.
I changed gdm.conf on the Redhat server to say: [Xdmcp] Enable=True and everything works. I connect from the Slackbox simply with X -broadcast and get my Gnome desktop. This is great, exactly what I want. Only problem is that I cannot disconnect. I tell Gnome to shutdown and it returns me to the Redhat box's graphical login prompt. I click on the Disconnect menu item and the screen goes blank for 5 seconds, then returns me to the graphical login prompt. Any suggestions? |
I don't know how to answer your question and I don't know how bad you want to use slackware. But www.k12ltsp.org has a redhat terimnal server that works great with very little setup. Just a thought...
