Question Remote sessions

Hello all,

i was wondering if there was a program that would let me connect to my linux server remotely like i normally would, via ssh, BUT i dont want to end the session when i logout. i want to login and for example, start a download using bittorrent, and then logout from my remote session, and keep everything going.

and then if i login again, be able to see the progress of its download...etc....

is this possible??

If you are prepared to use a non-gui bittorrent client like then you could login to the remote box using ssh and then run "screen" before you start bittorrent. After you start your bittorrent client then you detach the screen session by pressing Ctrl-a d. After you have detached the screen session then you can log out of the remote box. Next time you log back into that remote box just run "screen -r" to reattach the screen sessions. There is a recent article on using screen that might help at
