Remote Dialup Client Apps (PPPoE connections)

Hi there
Does anyone know of anything similar to SuSE's SMPPPd? Where you have this service listening for KInternet client connections and to manage your ADSL or PPPoE devices? Something preferably for Debian/Ubuntu distros?

I am looking for such a setup like I had with SuSE. A Linux/Windows remote client (like something you have in the system tray) for signaling connections and (if necessary) a service to handle those clients for making/breaking internet connections.

I hope I was making sense.
