Question Relay server

Hi all,

I am looking for some program (preferably open source ) which can be used on Linux (duh) and which does the following.

I want to open it on some port. Let's say port 80, to some specific host. I will connect from a second station towards this first one. As soon as I open a connection to this host, I want it to open a connection to the external host, on the port I am connecting from (in my example: 80), and sent through everything what I sent it.

<< Internet >> -- DMZ -- My station

My station cannot connect to outside ports, DMZ can. So I want to 'relay' all traffic on a certain port to and from the internet.

Does anyone know if something like that exists somewhere? In this case I specifically need it for connecting to news servers, but I would like to have it more general...

Thanks!

I'm not 100% sure I understand your requirements, but I think maybe you should check out the port forwarding features of ssh. You want to tunnel through a firewall, yes? Be aware that if you're doing this on a network you don't own, you're probably breaching the acceptable use policy.

Be ethical.

Hi Matthew,

Basically it's something like that yes. And no need to worry It's my own network...

BTW, I just tried ssh but no luck... I just need clear forwarding, no need for encrypted stuff.
Code:
ssh -L 1234:newsserver:119 localhost
That works, but only if I access the server via ssh... telnet refused to connect to it...

I also looked at IPtables, but that is a little difficult :S

Greetz,
Steven
