related to virtual consoles


how to give root access on single console. In linux 6 virtual console is there and root access to all the console, but i want to give root access on a particular console and reset of the console is use for the user users.How can i do it?..............plz give me the proper answer

The six virtual consoles, accessed by the function key TFSs, are used for different things in different distros. On my system, they each require a login. So the actual distro you use is important to an answer.

However - generally, users do not use these consoles. They will use a terminal window from a gui or the console assigned at login if a gui is not installed. Similarly, the administrator would not use one of these consoles, instead opening a terminal and using su or sudo as appropriate.

I suspect you have a particular aim in mind - this is not the way to go about it. If you fill us in on what yau want to acheive, maybe we can help.

Take a look at agetty (man agetty) and inittab.
