ReiserFS vs ext3


which journaling fs is mostly widespread?
are they interchangeable/compatible?
which do you recommend to use?

Ext3 is an extension to ext2 and with redhat you can upgrade from 2 to 3, reiserFS is a completely diferent file system and you need to do a fresh install to use it. They both have their good points and from what I've read reiserFS is the better of the two, unless you need to upgrade an existing redhat install and then I'd recomend you go for ext3..

the only thing I found about them is the following, if you force the system down with unplugging it and you had for example a file opened and you made some changes to the file, in case of ext3 the changes are saved, reiserFS doesn't save them in this case.
