Reiserfs recovery

I was happily playing UT over the LAN with some friends when, BOOM! it froze! I tried to ssh from another box, i tried all key combinations, i waited a bit, but nothing, linux froze. I had to reset it (power button for 3 secs). When i started booting in again, it gave a VFS reiserfs filesystem (device 3:44) can not be found/mounted, kernel panic.
I tried a different kernel, i tried Slackware/debian and mandrake rescue disks (to mount the partition at least) but nothing works. So, since i have a seperate /home and /usr and /files, i just re-formatted root, and re-installed Slack. Now with slackware's xfs.i kernel from their cdrom (i formatted the / partition XFS now, since i lost fate in Reiser), i can boot into the new system no problem. I re-compiled and installed a new kernel, and when i try to boot it it gives me again the same VFS deice 3:44 kernel panic error!! Although the other slackware's kernel still boots it fine. Now i booted with slacks kernel again, and manually mounted each partition. I can mount /home and /usr no problem, but /files (which is on the different disk, namely /dev/hda (/dev/hda2)) can not be mounted. I tried reiserfsck --check and --rebuild-tree tree on it, but both report 'can't open filesystem on /dev/hda2, aborted'

Now, on /dev/hda2 i have 5GB of Music, some movies, and a LOT of important documents. (I have a backup of the documents of 1 month ago, but being an idiot i can't remember where i put it). In other words it is VERY important that i get /dev/hda2 working again. However reiserfsck is useless, fdisk reports 62 unallocated sectors on /dev/hda which i have no idea what it means.
Please, please tell me that i can still do something!
How can i save my /dev/hda2? And why the hell my custom kernel still won't boot (VFS kernel panic) although Slackware's xfs.i boots correctly? I'm sure i didn't screw up kernel config.
Please help me save my /dev/hda2 or else all the wallpapers, documents, music, movies and photos (digital camera) i took in the past 3 years are lost! and that totally sucks!
Plz give any suggestions if you can help, i can't think of anything else to attempt now...
Thanks to everyone!

put that second drive in a different computer,
and boot from the cdrom with a kernel that supports
the filesystem.

I played further on, and i finally got a mountable fulesystem wirh reiserfsck --rebuild-sb /dev/hda2 followed by a reiserfsck --rebuild-tree /dev/hda2 and reiserfsck --check /dev/hda2. Now i can mount the filesystem and read it's contents and files. However, all the files are in a big lost+found directory. This is not a problem. The problem is many, but not all the file and directory names are just a random sequence of numbers sucha s 2567_6754. I can access and read them, in case of music files i can send them to xmms which plays them fine, but i can't play all of 5GB of music song by song and rename them to their real names!!
Is there some way to somehow find and give the files their old names? Is the only solution to spends hours to find the most important files, re-save them and delete the rest with senseless names?
Thanks very much!
