reinstalling suse 9

I upgraded my PC to a 64-bit dual core processor. I am running dual OS - Windows XP and Linux. On rebooting with the new system the Grub Loader vanished. Various attempts at reloading Linux via disc has not worked. Re-installation, repairing or updating cannot be done as the system freezes at various stages. The system will also not format itself. Deleting the partitions has also not worked. I tried using Explore2FS to recover the files but it cannot read reiserFS, only ext2 & ext3 files. It appears that the root partition has gone AWOL as the error messages indicate that the partition cannot be mounted or found. Booting via disc brings up Yast but the system will not perform the repair or installation functions.
Any bright ideas on how to overcome this problem as I would hate to lose the data on Linux.

Just to get that right, your system boots in windows and you can not acces the linux-partition by booting from a live-disk or have I missunderstood you?

Arrow reinstalling suse 9

Hi Indoeki,

Right on both counts. Windows boots normally if booting from the hard drive. No Grub Loader to be found.
