Reinstall GTK+-2.0 for SuSE 8.2

Greetings all:

I ran into a problem installing an FTP Client, and I consulted with a good Linux authority whom told me the GTK+-2.0 is "broken". He suggested I reinstall the libraries from the RPM's.

I have never done this. Can I use the SuSE YaST utility to perform this? I only have dialup access. As a fallback alternative, I have access to broadband, and can download to a USB thumb drive. I also tried the SuSE support site, and did not find anything comprehensive to the entire GTK library set.

If anyone can offer assistance or other help, please post here.

Thank you in advance.

Yes. You can use YaST to reinstall the problem packages from either the SuSE site or from the install CDs. I recommend using the install CDs as this is much faster.

personally I would love to see GTK+ 2.x.x come with SuSE 8.2 but it only has GTK+ 1.2.x which is causing me a headache and a half trying to compile the GTK+ 2.2.5. Got GLIB compiled no problem. Then I try compiling the rest and now I find out freetype is missing along with fontconfig and now those two won't install properly.
