Redhat Linux 9 getting hanged frequently..
I am a newbie to Redhat Linux 9 and I am using it for the last 2 and half months. It was fine before I've updated with the newest kernel package(kernel-2.4.31). I used to have kernel-2.4.19 version. But now the system is getting hanged frequently even without running any applications. The log tell me that 'X is spawning too quickly and that's why disbaled for 5 minutes'. I dn't know what that means. The chance of getting it fronzen is more when running movie files.

can some one help me to fix this.

Kernel upgrades take a bit of getting used to.
Did you upgrade via rpm or source?
Can you still boot into 2.4.19?

Otherwise it sounds like you need a re-install.

BTW: I think the *latest* kernel is a 2.6.x

to be specific, the latest stable kernel is 2.6.5. are you using nvidia drivers? try disabling agp if you are...
