i got the same problem ! adding to this
using my two NICs no one can reach the network (ping results : network unreachable) even if the interfaces are on (eth0 , eth1) there are no firewall rules ( iptables -L gives nothing ) one nic has a public address , the second has a private one , the gw is added (route add default gw) and the DNS ip is set ( resolve.conf ) what is this horrible problem please !
Looks like two different problems, freelinuxcpp - it sounds like you need to enable routing on your machine, try the following command: echo "1" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward
mosdgte - I am not for sure what the problem is, do you have any errors on your /var/log/messages file? Also what is in and around line 162 of you squid config file? and have you recently changed anything in the squid config?
i had exactely the same error messages with a new linux installation with the default squid.conf
always with redhat 9
i m afraid the problem comes from redhat it selfs !
for the routing i don't think so because no IP can be earchable even if it's part of the same LAN the same cable with the same configuration on an other (machine for tests) gives a positive respounse , i m gonna try to change the NIC and see
@+
i was also facing this problem , but yesterday i resolve this , but i am still stugling with squid can see my post if u can do regarding my problem.
what is did is in redhat 9 open system settings --> Network --> under DNS tag type host name sachinburange.domainname , if DNS server running on urs system type your system IP address in DNS otherwise any other DNS on your network or ISP DNS , in DNS search path type full domain name if like abd .com
Or click on Help in Network configration then Contents --> managing dNS setting
may here u resolve this issue, as i.
