Unhappy redhat 9 freezing

Hi, I just started Redhat 9.0 as a firewall / router to sharing my cable internet connection. It will work for some time, then internet will not work anymore, both on the firewall and workstations within the network. Then in Gnome, I'll try to start any application (mozilla, gedit...), nothing will start. First I though it's just Gnome. So, I let the firewall run in mode 3 (instead of mode 5). Same thing happens. When I try to start XWindows after it is frozen, XWindows won't start.

Can anyone help me. Thanks in advance.

This might be obvious but did you try to connect without the firewall?
