Redhat 9, Emacs, Backspace, Sucky

Much to my chagrin, Emacs on Redhat sees my backspace key as Ctrl-d on RedHat 9 when I use RXVT to log in remotely to the box.

Any tips on how to make it show up as C-h or C-? are appreciated.

Thanks
Josh
