Hello friends.

i download new Kernerl 2.6.6. i have Red Hat 9 with kernerl 2.4. please

you tell me how can i upgrade the kernerl. and what benifet is my Red Hat

9.

Ha! I asked this very same question last week sometime. Or maybe two weeks ago.

Either way, I was reprimanded for not searching first, but helpfully (and politely!) given this link: http://www.linux-sxs.org/upgrading/migration.html

Haven't bothered with it yet (bad lazy me... too many other things to distract my attention), but it looks right enough. Not that I would know, but it's fun to guess...

upgrading to 2.6.6
 
If you are not using your computer for mission critical and don't mind the possibility of spending the next few days without it go ahead. If you have a spare computer to play with you will enjoy the learning process. At a 3 hour compile time to fix the kernel each time you realize what you should have put in, it can take some time. 2.6 is faster but more of a challenge. Marty
