Question Redhat 9.0 slower then windows on my sys..

Its probably me not configuring it right, but i installed it got the latest athlon kernel patch and boot from that, but half my programs even the terminal will take 20-40 seconds to load! yet the hard drive light isnt flashing while their doing it.. once their loaded system seems fine but its a pain in the ass at the moment.

Its detected all my hardware fine, and redhat 7.2 never used to do this .

i have an Athlon 1.2ghz and a radeon 9000 pro and 256mb ram

Im trying to apply updates i have on cd and im using

rpm -f *

Im hoping that updates anything i have installed and im seeing some good messages some errors :S lol.

Im sure its something obvious ive overlooked but if anyone has seen this before and possibly knows a fix could you point me in the direction of any info on it ?

Cheers dudes..

Hi bmahesh.

509mb is located for the swap.

the main partition has 5gb free.

It took me a long time to find that out :S lol.

Also when the programs do finally load they all seem to do it at once.
Thanks.

Regards,

Russell.
