RedHat 8 runaway
Installed RH8 on Abit kr7A-133R / Athlon Xp1900
Used proceedure supplied by "SharkyRolz" to set up with the Highpoint RAID controller on this MB. (See the hardware forum for a very long thread on this)

Initially, everything seemed fine. After several hours, the machine seems to saturate. The HD light is on almost continuously, and mouse/keyboard response becomes very slow. Cannot open tools such as system monitor.

Jumping to command mode, evertyhing is still very slow.

Check /proc: There are numerous processes running, with IDs up to over 7500

cannot exit using command line

return to GUI: cannot logout---no choice but hard shutdown, re-boot, repair file system, etc.

This drama has now re-played twice in 2 days

Athlon Xp1900 ... you should use a real CPU.

Some humor is needed sometimes.

Ouch. is there any way you can find out _which_ process(es) are consuming all the resources with 'ps -e' or ps -aux'?
