Question Redhat 8 Booting options ??

Hi there ,

I am facing a problem with RedHat 8 , booting process .
I am using a Pentium processor based PC .

I have done following steps :

1) Formatted and Partitioned the hard disk. First 6.5 GB for Windows , later
all for Linux ( and swap )
2) Installed Redhat 8 on the partation kept for Linux. Installation
successfull , also when starting the PC I was asked with the booting option of
DOS or Linux .
3) Later installed Win 2000 on the partation kept for Windows ( which is first
6.5 GB on hard disk )
4) NOW THERE IS A PROBLEM
When I start the PC , I am directly taken to Windows and I am not asked for
the booting-OS option .

Is the MBR modified by Win 2000 installation ?
I want to get the option when I start my PC , for choosing the OS I want to
log in .

How to do that ?
Can I still boot to Linix with a bootable disk ?

Yep, unfortunately, the bootloader from your Win 2000 install has overwritten your Linux bootloader.

Yes you can still boot from either your Red Hat boot floppy if youve made one or the 1st Red Hat cd in rescue mode.

Which ever route you choose, youll want to reinstall your Linux bootloader and then add an entry for Win 2000 later.
