Redhat 8.0 glibc 2.3.x update breaks apps

So... Redhat recently decided to release update rpms for 8.0 that switch glibc from 2.2.x to 2.3.2. This all seems well and good, except that assorted third party software is now failing in strange ways on systems where I've updated the glibc.

I keep my rpm database up to date with the latest updates, so backing out glibc will be a bit of a pain (a pain I'd rather avoid if possible). Has anyone had similar experiences since the recent 2.3.x update, or possibly found general workarounds? Failing that, does anyone have a full set of the last 8.0-friendly glibc-*2.2.x rpms lying around?

I don't have access to the source for any of the programs that are having issues.
