Hi, I am in the process of setting up a linux box to use as a router/firewall.
I have a C500 PC with 256M RAM and a 15G HDD. I had previously installed Debian 2.2r2 on the machine, but wanted a more GUI tools, so purchased a copy of Red Hat 7.2 last week. This is where my trouble starts.
Whenever I try and install Red Hat 7.2, the installer freezes at the point of formatting/copying. Disk Druid is able to partition the HDD (no other OS's are installed on it), but the install locks up as soon as it trys to format the partitions.
I put a 2G HDD in the same PC, and can install Red Hat 7.2 OK into it. I also managed to install Red Hat 6.2 onto the 15G HDD without a problem.
I tried performing the install in text mode, tried using Partition Magic to setup the partitions, tried upgrading from 6.2 to 7.2, setting the hda=C,H,S command, tried the LBA32 switch. Nothing seems to work.
Does anyone have any good ideas?
Thanks,
Bruce.
