Unhappy Redhat 7.1 installation fails

My installation(using graphical mode) only goes as far as probing for hardware types and choosing which language I want to use. After that the screen just goes blank, almost like my monitor shut off. I've tried this several times and it does the same thing over and over again. I don't really like the text installation(which does work) but I really feel more comfortable using the graphical mode. Why is my computer doing this and how can I fix it?
