Red Hat Linux 9.0 login problems as root
Hello,
We have a Red Hat Linux 9.0 machine that was recently switched to a different network with a different DHCP server. Since then we have been unable to log in as root or as any other user. When the system boots up everything is detected, but when I get to the login console and enter root and the password it waits for a few seconds and then goes right back to the login prompt. If I enter the wrong password it detects I have entered a wrong password. Network connectivitiy appears to be fine.
I've tried booting in as single-user mode, which is successful, but I can't determine the new IP address of the machine since I can't log in through the console. We have subversion running on this machine and can't access it unless we get the new IP address.
Does anyone have any advice how I can login as root or any other user?
Thanks.
