Red Hat help please

I am building a new server that requires Red Hat 2.4.9-31 kernel due to the application that I am loading. Leaving that as is...meaning the application specifies that it is tested with that kernel and only that one.

What version of Red Hat should I start with? Red Hat 7.3 is what is on the sales shelf now, and I know I can patch the kernel to 2.4.9-31, so my questions is does it matter what version I purchase?

Red Hat 7.3, 8.0.

Thank you.

Both 7.3 and 8.0 shipped with a newer version of kernel 2.4.18 and 2.4.19 respectively, so in any case you'd need to downgrade the kernel, if the app requires 2.4.9-specific.redhat.version than your best bet would be to get the kernel from and install it. But I'd try first if the app would work with stock kernel shipped with RH.
