red hat 9 up2date

having troubles-downloaded the 2 files-up2date and gnome up2date-

when i use the terminal to install- i get up2date needs gnome, and and the same if i install the other

seems like it will install just by clicking on the 2 downloads, and each seems to install

when i run the other command in the terminal, not sure what it is, maybe up2date -p, it states i must register. i have registered before, before the update.i type my username, password, etc, and i allways get, cannot register username

any suggestions

I had the same problems. Couldn't resolve it, so finally had to log in with a whole new name and email address. So far that's working, but who knows for how long.

The command is rpm -Fvh up2date-*

That will update both files at the same time (I believe that one file depends on the other) and all should be well. I done it that way myself around 6 times recently and has worked perfectly.

Go here for the official RedHat instructions.
