Red hat 9 restrictions
 

How do you apply restrictions to redhat 9 ? im on a local machine, I and I want no restrictions applyied to an administrator account, whereas, I would like otehr users to have restrictions imposed. Things like not being able to see the system tools on the redhat menu, etc.

Also - I would like the users not to be able to enter a root password for applications, eg : for config-xf86, you need to enter a root password to run the app, but I dont want the user to get a change to enter the password - something like a message box would be excelent - thanks in advance for any help.

As far as i am aware, permissions are at the heart of a linux system already! the superuser has full access to everything, everywhere, always.

regular user accounts are often severely restricted as to what they can do. Even though an option shows up on the control panels in rh9 (kde), you will still need an administrator password to access any of these programs.

not having anything show up at all is possible, i suppose, but why? if they have your root password already, they are going to get in. if they dont, then (assuming you used a good password for your root account) they can guess till their eyes bleed, and it probably won't help them.

Im sort of creating a distro - more of an enviroment really, based on redhat, where, users can do things, and stuff just wont ' break '. And I want full on hardcore access from the root user. I could customise all the user accounts seperatly, but I dont want to, I want to create a user account with specific shortcuts / priliages / etc based on their group.
