Red Hat 9.0 and Xine
I installed freshly a Red Hat 9.0 and everything goes smoothly. And then I installed the Xine releashed on April 14, 2003 but it failed to run and the error message is as follow. Please help how to solve the problem.

psssst - try mplayer
the same rpms for rh 8 work for 9 instructions are on my guide below |
Just a guess... try to uninstal Xine and install it again. Sometimes it works for me :) Sounds like some sharing files (plugins) were not installed correctly.
I use my self "avifile" to watch movies, it's a great player and relativly easy to install. Here is the link: http://avifile.sourceforge.net/ You will also need to have SDL installed, which you get freely here: http://www.libsdl.org/index.php Install SDL first, then compile avifile, it would find SDL libraries automaticly ;) Still, if you are planning to watch DVD's, I don't think avifile might help you. Try to uninstall Xine from your distro and download the latest Xine and see what happens http://xinehq.de/ Sorry if I'm wrong and for my crappy english :) |
easyist way it to go to freshrpms.net and download apt from redhat 9 rpm then use it to install xine it will install it with depencies correctly
